The undefeated Diablo Valley College soccer team is off to an amazing start this season with a 7-0-1 record.

“We’ve got a talented group of players, smart on the ball and they created good scoring opportunities,” coach Cailin Mullins said after the team’s first win over Cabrillo.

Dvc has scored 20 times this season averaging 2.5 goals per games. The team has many weapons including lead scorer Vanessa Ruvalcaba who has scored five goals this season.

Teamwork is key for the Vikings.

“My team keeps me motivated,” freshmen Jessica Jaime said.

Although they were challenged the defense played hard and their efforts paid off in the last home game on Tuesday against Folsom Lake which resulted in a tie. “It was a battle,” sophomore Zoe Ramer said.

The Vikings have a promising season ahead of them including six more home games.

“We have more work to do and are working towards goals we haven’t achieved before,” coach Mullins said.

The Viking’s next three games will be away and they plan to keep the winning streak going.

The next home game will be Tuesday, Oct.4 at 3:30 pm.
