Diablo Valley College’s very own part-time art professors present a new exhibit called “Parts of the Whole.”

There are some unique art forms including gelatin silver prints, burnt wood, acrylic paint and video.

Each work is personalized, different and beautiful in its own way. Like most works of art, each makes a statement of some kind.

Erika Back is a 42-year-old library technology student who works in the Art Department.

Back’s favorite pieces are a stoneware tea pot set made by Takemi Tsuruta, part-time ceramics professor. She also enjoys part-time photography professor Alice Shaw’s “Formation Pinacles” which is pigment and print with gold leaf.

Another student worker, 36-year-old Jesse requested his last name be excluded from this article.

“I think its a great thing that we have the opportunity to come view art in such a great way, as students,” he said.

This exhibit is open until March 25 in the Art Gallery room of the Art Building and the following exhibit will be the student art show. ART or ARTDM students who are interested in displaying their art for the upcoming show should drop off their pieces between April 6-9 in the Art Gallery. Check the DVC Art Blog for details.
