It’s Christmas time in Benicia

Madeline Berry, Staff member

Christmas lights and warm hearts, that’s the way the holiday in Benicia starts.

Benicia hosted annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 4, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Every year people of all ages gather on First Street in downtown Benicia to celebrate the beginning of Christmas time.

Students not yet home for the holidays miss out on the tree lighting every year.

It is not an event you want to miss.

It’s an excuse to leave home and catch up with the people you haven’t seen in awhile.

“City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style”

“Children laughing, people passing, meeting smile after smile, and on every street corner you’ll hear”

Families, children and couples danced to the live band by the tree to Christmas songs.

Free pictures with Santa Clause, popcorn, hot chocolate, candy canes, cotton candy and hot apple cider for all.

“Soon it will be Christmas Day”

3-2-1…

The tree at the end of First Street will stay lit all December long.

If you missed out this year make sure you come next. It gets bigger and better every year.
