DVC sports this week: Beginnings and conclusions

The starters for the women’s soccer team line up to get their names called out to start the 2nd Round of the CCCAA Women’s Soccer Playoffs on Nov. 22 at home.

Diablo Valley College women’s soccer team’s five game winning streak came to an end this week. They beat Santa Barbara 2-0 on Dec. 2 in the CCCAA State Championship semifinal. Cerritos defeated the Vikings 2-0 in the CCCAA State Championship Finals in Ventura, CA on Dec. 4.

The men’s basketball team won two of the three games they played this weekend. The beat San Jose  65-51 in the San Francisco Classic on Dec. 2 and  San Joaquin Delta 65-63 in the San Francisco Tournament on Dec. 4. They lost 74-66 in overtime vs Cypress in the San Francisco City Tournament on Dec. 3. Next they will play in the West Valley Tournament vs. Hartnell on Dec. 15.

The women’s basketball team won three of the four games they played this week. After a 83-76 defeat against Yuba in the Contra Costa Tournament on Dec. 1, DVC went on to win their next three games. They beat Taft 107-46 on Dec. 2, San Jose 80-53 on Dec. 3 and LA Harbor 108-61 on Dec. 4. Next they will play Las Positas in the Fresno City College Tournament on Dec. 9.

Vikings lacrosse won their sixth straight game. They won 19-7 against University of Pacific on Dec. 1. Next they will play the CJCLA Championship at home on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
