DVC’s women’s volleyball team traveled to Rocklin Oct. 30, only to lose three sets to Sierra College, ranked No. 5 statewide, 25-15, 15-17 and 25-14.

The Vikings’ next home games were Monday and Wednesday against Sacramento City and Consumnes River colleges, respectively. Both games occurred after the Inquirer’s press deadline.

In an Oct. 29 match against American River College, the Vikings emerged the victors, winning three out of five rounds. The first round fell in DVC’s favor, 25-16, as did the third, 25-17, and the fourth, 25-14.

American River managed only the one, 27-25, second-round victory.

DVC has been stepping up its game lately, playing as a whole and passing the ball around the court instead of relying on spikes.

The game stand-outs were Jennifer Kawakami (14 kills, 12 digs and three service aces) and Kinsey Linden (six kills, two assists and nine digs).

“We worked on finishing…starting the game strong and sustaining throughout to the end, said head coach Jackie Ponciano-Babb.

If they can win four out of their next six games, the Vikings will see themselves in the playoffs of the Big 8 conference.
