Legendary Weapons

Any given Sunday, the commonplace can become Legendary. At last, Aaron Rodgers looked like the Aaron Rodgers that his owners hoped he would be, and Peyton returned to form to overcome a record tying 24 point deficit in the second half. Certain players, even when they under perform, hold a potential for excellence that few others can even hope to match. They are the Legends of Fantasy Sports.

Any given Sunday, even the most educated of projections can fall flat. Last week, I picked Pierre Garcon in my abbreviated edition, posted at the last second before Thursday Night Football, then on Friday, in practice, he reinjured his nagging foot injury and couldn’t go, while RG3 who was THE injury concern at the time of my post, set the Redskins’ home stadium on fire with his ability to create offense. Still others that have been highly touted, put up big numbers, seeming to validate those who believed in them all along. Yet there is still uncertainty looming, and when you least suspect, a dark underside unforeseen may cost you your shot at the post-season. They are the Myths of Fantasy Sports.

It’s week 7, and NOW is the time to get serious about winning your league. Every team is looking for that Signature Win, a sign that they had the draft they thought they did and they’re going to be able to sustain that success over time. Toward helping you reach that lofty post-season goal, I have compiled two lineups going into this week. The Lineup of Legends and The Myth Busters.

The Lineup of Legends:

QB: Aaron Rodgers (GB)– If you watched A-Rod go to work on Sunday Night, you know why he’s a Legend. Six touchdowns through the air is nothing short of remarkable, even inconceivable for most mortal QB’s, it’s exactly what Fantasy Owners have been banking on since before the season began. There are just some throws that ordinary, mortal QB’s wouldn’t even consider throwing. Legends pull the trigger, Legends convert.

RB1, RB2: Adrian Peterson (Min), Maurice Jones-Drew (Jax)– Both these guys are undervalued going into week 7. AP has been held out of the end zone since week 1 when his coach Leslie Frasier deliberately spread false info about Peterson’s health. The Vikings are for real this year and All-Day is due. The “Hyphy- Hyphen” Maurice Jones-Drew is also due for some big time numbers against an Oakland D that has struggled to stop the run all year. Watch these Legends for a high probability of Legendary Highlights.

WR1, WR2: Calvin Johnson (WR-Det), Andre Johnson (WR-Hou)– Megatron is having the same end-zone hunger as Peterson and the Texans are going to be playing angry this week. Legendary playmakers make Legendary plays.

TE: Jimmy Graham (TE- NO)- Graham is the archetype for the new Tight-End in the NFL. Basketball height and jumping ability, great hands and running-back speed. With the New Orleans Defense in shambles this year, look for Brees and Graham to put forth more than a few Legendary Efforts.

The Myth Busters: Overrated “busters”, one and all.

QB: Eli Manning (NYG)
RB1, RB2: Shonn Greene (NYJ), Trent Richardson (Cle)
WR1, WR2: Dez Bryant (Dal), Victor Cruz (NYG)
TE: Tony Gonzalez

That’s all for now Readers. I’ll try to do better next week.
