The DVC Drama department was granted $5000 for a trip to Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) in Washington.

This event is held every year to showcase student productions from around the country, and also to get students to meet new people.

Aside from just a showcase students will learn how to achieve professional status and receive advice on how to coordinate and produce more experimental work at their college or university.

According to the Kennedy Center website, “The KCACTF is a year-round program in eight geographic regions in the United States. Regional activities are coordinated through eight KCACTF regional administrations.”

Besides just the festival in D.C. there are also regional competitions in which students can show their work, have the potential of winning scholarships, and attend workshops to help improve their work.

The DVC Drama department will be competing in the western states festival, which is held in Ellensburg, WA.

The entire trip will cost almost $20000, but the drama department only requested $5000 to cover the airfare to and from the festival.
