The Diablo Valley College women’s volleyball team had a harrowing game against the Santa Rosa Bear cubs last Friday.

The first set started them out on a pace that would continue for the rest of the game. It ended with a score of 25-15.

In the second set with a score of 14-6 DVC took a time out to try and situate their strategy, but they had no such luck. The bear cubs quickly charged to a 21-7 lead, and then proceeded to end the first set 25-9.

The third and final set didn’t fair much better for the Vikings as Santa Rosa took the initial lead 7-3. Santa Rosa continued to dominate and ended the set 25-11.

Defensive specialist Kaitlin Rudolph said of the game, “Overall I think we played more like individuals, than as a team. When we play as a team that’s when we score.” As far as improving their game she says they need to communicate more, “Our passing is getting better, but it’s the talking and the trusting.”

Outside hitter Brittany Portello said in the future games the team needs to, “Come out as hard as we do we just need to maintain energy.”

The Vikings next home game is Wed. November 11. They take on the San Joaquin Delta.
