The conventional duo of wine and chocolate complimented with art makes for an exciting festival.

Suisun hosted its 11th annual Art, Wine and Chocolate Waterfront Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3. The festival was free entry for all and featured different local vendors from all over the Bay Area including Napa, Vacaville, Fairfield and Sonoma.

Approximately 60 booths were set up for wine tasting, hand-crafted art, fudge, cupcakes, chocolate and baked goods.

Mitch Holmes, 49, from Napa was buying a bottle of wine he had just tasted at a booth from Sonoma. “$25 for 8 glasses of wine from all local wineries and I get a souvenir glass to bring home to the wife. Deal!”

First live band of the evening, ‘Westbound 80’ from Vacaville performed from 11 am until 1:30 pm. They sang covers of oldies rock and roll music such as Brown Eyed Girl, Margaretville, Mustang Sally, Summer of 69, and Satisfaction.

“I have spent about thirty dollars on chocolate but it was so worth it.” said Amber Malley, 31, from Vallejo. “Now I need a good bottle of wine to go with them for ladies night.”

Second live band ‘Whiskey & Honey,’ also from Vacaville, played on stage from 2:30 pm until 5 pm. They sang covers of all types of country music including Girl in a Country Song, Gunpowder and Lead, My Mama’s Broken Heart, That’s My Kinda Night, Girl Crush and Chicken Fried.

Liz Moff, 27, from Vacaville was taking a break to line dance on stage with the band in her cowboy boots. Moff said “I’m working pouring wine for the day, but this great band (Whiskey & Honey) makes me want to get up and dance instead.”
